Site Stories
co-created with Mark Cunningham
2016-17

Over 14 weeks, Julie Hammond and Mark Cunningham, in collaboration with classroom teachers Jenny Simpson and Dragana Sacco and guest artists Barbara Adler and Alexandra Spence, led 58 grade 10 students at New Westminster Secondary School in explorations of site, sound, and material in service of discovering and telling the stories of their school. Inspired by conceptual art practices, readymades, soundmaps, performance, lazy art, and graffiti, and situated within the overlapping explorations of site / sight / and cite, students developed projects (solo and collaborative) which culminated in a three day exhibition at NWSS.
